Hey there! My name is Elena. I started this blog in 2014, as an online scrapbook, because I was going through an anti-facebook phase. Eventually, I started noting down random things happening in my life, travel notes and rants. A lot of the commentary on this blog is from the perspective of a westerner understanding Asia. If you want to support my work, consider donating through Ko-fi. I hope you enjoy this blog!
The purple logo shows a selection of kanji characters that spell ‘Elena’ as 英玲奈 (E-re-na). The three characters stand for [Hero, England] + [Sound of jingling jewels] + [the old capital of Nara] and are commonly used in female names in Japanese. My boss at work prepared the writing for me, having my personality in mind, and I am still grateful for this description.
In order to get accustomed to the format of the blog, check out the landing pages below, available in English and in Greek, respectively. If my articles match your interests, you can receive updates about new posts by signing up via email or via WordPress (if you already have an account). A new post is available every week, on Thursdays (in English or Greek, don’t be scared, you can use ‘translate page’). Short format posts are up twice a week. I update my instagram (almost) daily. If there is a specific topic that you want to find out more about, don’t hesitate to contact me.
